Pete Dougherty and Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press Gazette reports Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, has been in talks with the Jets, who have shown a growing interest, but Cook has not been working closely with the Buccaneers, according to two sources.
Ted Thompson, the Packers’ general manager, has been asking for a draft pick that could escalate to a better pick based on Favre’s and the new team’s performance. Thompson and the Packers have stated repeatedly they plan to move forward with Aaron Rodgers, the former first-round pick and Favre’s backup the past three years, as their starting quarterback.

Update - 10:25 p.m. ET - ESPN News is reporting that two different sources are claiming that Brett Favre will most likely accept the marketing and merchandising deal the Packers are offering him. Nothing is confirmed, but the sources are saying Favre is leaning that way and a definitive decision will be made in the next 48 hours.
Update - 10:27 p.m. ET - Dan Leberfeld is reporting that a source close to the Jets told him, referring to the Press Gazette article, that this isn’t the case. He told a Jets beat reporter, “You can sleep well tonight.”

ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark is reporting that another “official” is saying the Manny Ramirez to Florida deal is dead.
Update 1:45 - Jayson Stark just said on ESPN News that Jayson Bay is NOT going to the Red Sox. The Manny deal is dead “I’m hearing that now from all ends”, said Stark.
Inside the visitors’ clubhouse at Dolphin Stadium, Mets Manager Jerry Manuel called over to Endy Chavez, requesting the outfielder come into the interim manager’s office.
“Chavy, we traded you for Manny Ramirez,” Manuel kidded.
“Straight up,” David Wright chimed in. “Nice job.”
