Are you a blogger?
At what point does a person call themselves a blogger? or “one who blogs”?
It seems that this has become such a loose term because so many people have some sort of presence on the internet.
I held down a little corner of a blogspot for a couple of years and have been here at tumblr for a while. I’ve never once considered myself to be associated with the term “blogger”. For me, it came from a lack of quality and a lack of consistency. The quality part being my own issues. I read so many other sites that consistently post quality works and usually about a narrowed down field of topics. I didn’t do that then and I surely don’t do that now.
In the past, bloggers were few and far between so having a label and title made sense. I don’t feel like it makes much sense anymore. In my opinion, the title of blogger should be reserved and not dumbed down by the schlock that I put up on the internet.
If I take Tylenol for a headache and put a Band-Aid on when I cut myself shaving I don’t call myself a doctor, so why would I call myself a blogger?
