Philly SS Jimmy Rollins Booed At Home
Jimmy Rollins got his expected response on Tuesday, beginning with the announcing of the starting lineups, and continuing through his flawless fielding of Ryan Zimmerman’s grounder in the first inning.
He heard louder, more pronounced ribbing as he walked to the plate in the bottom of the first inning. They turned into cheers for a few seconds, until his scorcher to right held up long enough for Austin Kearns to make the putout.
Rollins left the field to more boos. All this for his calling Philadelphia fans “front-runners,” last week on FOX’s Best Damn Sports Show Period, then further clarifying that he was defending his teammates, who should be cheered unconditionally, in his opinion. - MLB.com
