Latest Palin Gaffe: Can't Name Supreme Court Case Other Than Roe V. Wade
ladies and gentleman, our VP nominee…Not that I expect most people to be able to rattle off Supreme Court decisions, but I do think VP nominees should be aware of at least a few:
Dred Scott v. Sandford, Plessy v. Ferguson, Brown v. Board: all good to know when you are running in a historic race with America’s first black presidential nominee, because it helps you to understand why it is not only important, but in fact incredible, that a black man has achieved so much in this country.
For a lady critical of people being read their Miranda rights, she might be interested in knowing Miranda. v Arizona, and for a lady who seems to be quite content with the situation in Guantanamo, she might also be interested in looking into Korematsu v. U.S.
For a leader under trial for abuse of power, she might want to read (closely) the decision on U.S. v. Nixon.
For someone who has an issue with judicial activism, she might be interested to know where the judiciary derives its power: Marbury v. Madison.
Very simply…these are things she should know. Perhaps her ignorance on these topics explains her difficulty in answering basic questions and also the reason why she holds position in direct opposition to the laws of this country and seems to be utterly clueless of doing so.
