“Iran is in many ways a safer territory from which al Qaeda can operate. The United States has targeted al Qaeda in Iraq, Pakistan, Yemen, and other countries, but it has limited operational reach in Iran.”
The BBC’s new documentary, “The Power of Nightmares”, presents evidence that al Qaeda does not exist, and was created by United States Central Intelligence Agents. Among the evidence presented, they call into question the testimony of Jamal al-Fadl, point to staged footage of bin Laden’s ‘foot-troops’, and the faked Tora Bora headquarters that Donald Rumsfeld insisted was one of many.
There are militarized Islamic terrorists, but they aren’t a unified or monolithic front.
Feds: Zawahiri Launched Al Qaeda Terror Plot for 9/11 Anniversary
U.S. authorities are scrambling to sort through information that the CIA developed in the past 24 hours indicating that at least three individuals entered the U.S. in August by air with the intent to launch a vehicle-borne attack against Washington, D.C. or New York around the anniversary of 9/11, according to intelligence officials.
Officials say the alleged terror plot was initiated by new al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s successor, who had pledged to avenge bin Laden’s death earlier this year in a U.S. raid.
Intelligence and law enforcement officials told ABC News that at least one of the individuals is a U.S. citizen and one official said that two of the individuals may have had U.S. documentation — whether green cards or passports was unclear.
I believe it’s important to be aware, but it’s also important to remember the most powerful weapon terrorists possess is terror. Fear and panic are the desired outcomes of terrorism - besides the attacks themselves. Remember, the threat is specific, but it is also unconfirmed.

“It is such a good bargain for us to spread fear…fear that would cause the west to invest billions of dollars in new security procedures. This strategy of attacking the enemy with smaller, but more frequent operations is what some may refer to as the strategy of a thousand cuts. The aim is to bleed the enemy to death.”

Today, Al Qaeda’s best hope is to find a troubled young man who has been radicalized over the Internet, and teach him to stuff his underwear with explosives.
I do not minimize Al Qaeda’s intentions, which are barbaric. I question its capabilities. In every recent conflict, the United States has been right about the evil intentions of its adversaries but massively exaggerated their strength. In the 1980s, we thought the Soviet Union was expanding its power and influence when it was on the verge of economic and political bankruptcy. In the 1990s, we were certain that Saddam Hussein had a nuclear arsenal. In fact, his factories could barely make soap.
The error this time is more damaging. September 11 was a shock to the American psyche and the American system. As a result, we overreacted.
