A new study from Emory University demonstrates that New York is the NFL market most accommodating on Twitter toward gay NFL prospect Michael Sam, while Nashville is the least receptive.
The study analyzed tweets from all 31 NFL markets (both the Jets and Giants are included in the New York market) to determine how various NFL fan bases felt about Sam’s arrival in professional football.”
Keith Olbermann completely destroys Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com over his column on concussions in the NFL.
Keith at his best.
“I’m not an NFL player, but as a non-terrorist who happens to be a Jew, let me say that this is hogwash. It’s yellow journalism without any of the flair. Instead of Waksman asking why Aboushi deserves to be employed by the Jets, I think we should ask Yahoo! why they would publish a piece that accuses an NFL player of anti-Semitism without one solitary quote or piece of actual evidence. This is worse than your typical “keep your politics out of my sports” hit piece. It’s slander.”
PRO TIP: If you’re a professional football player and you’re gonna (allegedly) shoot and kill someone, don’t do this kind of selfie first, you asswipe. (Photo of former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez posing with a gun because that’s what gun nuts do via TMZ / The New York Post)
“New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed the real story behind a 2005 meeting with Vladimir Putin, during which the Russian president pocketed his Super Bowl ring, worth more than $25,000. Kraft, at the time, claimed the diamond-encrusted bauble was a gift, but he now admits Putin stole it, and the White House intervened when he demanded it back.”
“Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder refused to give up his beloved team’s name despite a lawsuit and letters from 10 members of Congress. But now it appears he’s bringing in the “pollster”/spin-doctor/Republican Batman Frank Luntz to examine what, exactly, everyone thinks about what everyone else thinks is most racist name in football.”
“Based on interviews over the past several weeks with current and former players, I’m told that a current gay NFL player is strongly considering coming out publicly within the next few months — and after doing so, the player would attempt to continue his career.”
“Despite the damage control talk from Idzik and Rex Ryan in Indy about how much they value Revis, the source told the Daily News on Tuesday that Idzik was “actively” shopping Revis at the combine, and interested teams are now doing their homework on what it would take to get Revis signed to a new contract if they can satisfy the Jets with compensation.”
