washingtonpost:

John Lewis is happy and it is wonderful.

Lewis is a civil rights icon. He was arrested and beaten multiple times in the early years of our nation’s long and bloody march for civil rights for African Americans. His speechat the 1963 March on Washington as a young man was as sobering and emphatic then as his speeches on justice and equality for all Americans are today as a 14-term member of congress.

Given all that Lewis has been through, to see this living legend git down to “Happy” — and on the International Day of Happiness, no less — made me smile. And I don’t know about you, but when he says, “This is my song” while doing a backyard barbeque hip wiggle, Lewis once again spoke for me.
